    My experance with TKat

    Nobody could ever confuse me for canyon bomber. There is an intersection that I make must turn where both roads have a high crown. If there is a car meeting me there, making the turn requires me to ride into the dip for a fun woop-t-doo turn my SF handled well. Then came the 'Jammer III and that turn had a less stable feel. I purchased a new TKat brace and the stability returned better than before.
    I ride mostly where the land is flat horizon to horizon but I do practice evasive maneuvers and panic stops and the brace is worth every cent.

      Tkat brace was one of the first things I did and probably the best. Big difference. Those spacers on the ATK are a good idea.
      Would be nice to try the stuff Marty has done. The Progressive springs I put in are ok but it would be interesting to see what the emulators do.

        Dean,

        If you go with the emulators, you'll have to buy springs again. The progressive wound spring isn't too good in this application. A XS650 riding buddy did it. He has offered me slightly used Progressive springs for cheap. You come down south and I'll let you try mine. You're looking at around $300 for this modification, or about the same price as cheap shocks.

              ATK brace

              I wondered who beat me out on that ATK brace on ebay.

              Got so pricey, I figured for a few bucks more, might as well buy new!

                  I think the Sport is the overseas version of the USA's Special.

                    I made that assumption too. They also have many errors in year models. I noticed that in the XS650 listings and XS1100 lintings.

                    Phil, with those 41mm forks, emulators, and a brace, you might find out just how much flex that frame is capable of.

                        One other plus for TKats brace is that it is billet, and those above say that they are cast. Cast aluminum and threads are not something I would chose over billet. Thats just my opinion. CZ

                          Hey Tom, Had I known it was You I'da let Ya win it, as I agree with Marty, TKats is much nicer looking.

                          Looking at my XV700 with its built in fork brace makes me wonder why Yamaha didn't do this for the XS11. off to the man cave to take some measurements

                              Yeah, there's only a few 'cosmetic' parts that interchange between the 'Sport' and the 'Special' US versions, even though some look the same. One thing I found the most interesting was the Sport has the leading-axle forks, but has totally different front brake calipers, unlike either the 'regular' Special or the LH/XJ.
