  • Painting chrome headers?

I am still working on "reviving" my friends 82 xj650j. It has a 4 into 1 chrome Vance & Hines header. The tail pipe is in good shape but the headers are rusted bad although it doesn't go through. I am having them sandblasted.
So, what is a good RATTLE CAN paint to use? Will flat look nicer longer than semi gloss? Do I need to use primer? Which one?
As you can see, I don't know anything about paint. Just want to do a decent job on them until he can come up with some $$$ to get a better set.
    Thanks for any help.

I've seen silver ceramic coating look nice

you'd have to find somewhere local - have it sprayed inside and out...

Al, I've used Duplicolor 1200F ceramic, which is easy to find an any auto parts store. Holds up well for me with no primer, YMMV. The black will eventually fade and turn greyish after time. The 500F wont hold up, it will burn off at the bends in the header near the head.

Thanks John, but don't want to spend that much $$ on this set.

I'll try this paint & see how it comes out.
