  • '83 Yamaha Maxim XJ 750 (I think)

I just purchased, birdnests and all, the above bike. The VIN#, somewhat hard to read, is (JYA22R003DA100113). Can someone please verify the info on the bike. Is it what I think, in the above title? Is it a Midnight Maxim and what model of the 750 is it? The <Yamaha-Motor.com> site shows a XJ750 K a MK and a RK.
the Motor Book Store has a Haynes manual for $23.07. Anyone care to comment on the manual? I also see that this site has a download of that manual. Anyone have any other sources for the manual, cheaper?
I also have a number of XS1100s in various states of repair.
    Enough for now,

Going by that VIN number it would be an 83 XJ750 Maxim. You can go to the following link to find out all of the ugly details.

      '83 Yamaha Maxim XJ 750

That site is great. I found out all about the vin, even more than I wanted to know. The bike is a 1983 XJ750MK or a Midnight Maxim which can be told either by the serial # or the different frame # (22R) and model # (33N). Thanks again for the quick and well explained site.
Now the big question is whether I can get it running.
