  • Early Viffer question

Anyone have any dealings with the early(91) VFR's 750cc? Issues to look for, electrical etc. Has had the girly white wheels swapped for later style wheels. Other than that not ridden very often.

I looked into, and still keep my eyes out for an early V45 bike, my preference leans toward the Sabre. Just haven't found "the one" that coincided with having the conscience or funds to add a third bike to the garage. The only issue I know of, and I believe it was corrected years before your bike was made, is the cam lobes could/would pit because of the type of oiling system in the top end. They went from a "splash" type system to a pressurized delivery of oil, I believe. There are still retro kits available to run an oil line from down low up to the top end that supposedly was a good fix/prevention.

Even at that, most of what I read said the bikes keep working just fine in the grand scheme, it's just a bummer to actually go in there, see the pitting and know that you have it even though except for extreme cases the bikes ran great.

Probably didn't tell you anything that you didn't already know, but there is my thimble of knowledge for ya'.
