Wish it was closer to me too. I want to find something like that for my wife.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Those 750s are all over up here and they never sell for a good amount of cash. I walk by a few every year. I could get you a good one with a parts bike for $200. I had an 850 special and loved it....are the 750s junk??

I had one and liked it ok. A little under powered but overall a good machine. I took some pretty long trips on mine and had no problems. I sold it to buy a 79Special when they came out to go with my 78E.
Yeah, A little underpowered but that is due to weight, mainly. They do feel more solidly planted at speed than most smaller bikes. I have had mine for quite some time and enjoyed riding it. It is in the middle of a makeover now...
The XS850 has a stronger crank than the XS750 I believe.I have had a couple of each.I still have an XS850.It runs great, but will probably get less than a thousand out of it.They aren't worth much, but I like how manageable they are.
I've had a few XS750's. They are good solo cruisers.
Sold the last one a year ago after I got the first XS11. Got it for $150, rebuilt it and rode it for 6kmi.
I'm actually keeping my eyes open for a decent XS750/850 project bike. MY very first motorcycle was a 78 XS750. That was before I had a clue how to work on stuff and traded it to the junk yard for a clutch cover to another bike. (yeah, what an idiot I was then. )

I had two 750 2D's for years and rebuilt a couple of engines in that time. From my recollection there was no difference in the cranks, only bore size and possibly the oil pump, although memory is bit hazy on that one.
