Just got back from a 600+ mile ride to Senaca Rocks, WV. Had to cut the trip short by a day to beat the rain. First trip on the '96 Road King since riding it from Pittsburgh to Richmond, VA the first weekend in May.
Finally figured out that I can't ride the Harley like my XS, so I'm riding it the way it was meant to be ridden, as a heavy cruiser. Hard to believe this, but I averaged right at 54 MPG for the 3-day trip. I'd have been at about 32 MPG with the '80G.
Any of you East Coast folks that haven't made this trip should consider it. Beautiful terrain, twisties available if that's what you are looking for, roads are in as good condition as any I've seen anywhere, not much truck traffic on the weekend. Two negatives, couldn't find a pool table outside of Elkins and you might as well leave your cell phone at home.
