  • Kawasaki Ninja 250 and 650 coolant leaks

Hi guys it's been awhile since i posted. These bikes are under 1500 miles each and were bought in 2008. They belong to my cousin whom i got into motorcycling

The 2007 250 ninja is leaking coolant and he can't seem to find out where it is coming from. The 2008 650 ninja has visible dry coolant flaking off of the hoses.

It seems really odd to me that 250 is already leaking coolant. He said it was it was stored in his bro's garage from november till february.

Anything that you guys could come up with would be greatly appreciated thanks guys

i know that i've seen 2 engines on the 250's (99,05) that leaked coolant around the steel pipes that slide into the engine cases.

there is an O-ring on the end of those steel lines.

    see (under radiator) :http://www.kawasaki.com/DefaultFrame...HOWVEHTABS%3d1

    670 670B2016 O RING,16MM 2

    670A 670B2018 O RING,18MM 1

    they are 16mm X 3mm and or 18mm X 3mm
go to a hardware store or kawy stealership.

but the problem is from the factory assembly.

they pushed the steel pipes into the cases with "dry" O-rings.

when you replace these, "lube the o-ring with vasoline or lipbalm or whatever to help them slide into place.

when you pull the old o-ring out you'll see it got twisted and didn't seat properly.

    hope this helps

        also..

if he needs to do a valve adjustment on the 250
i have a tool for my 2005 250, it may work on his 07... I'm not sure.

if you want to borrow it PM me.

mine adjuster is home built but works well.

there is a 250 ninja club that can be of help.
do a search for it, you'll find it.

sounds like he needs to sell it to me........ but also go for the expensive purple or orande juice it reall does prevent corrosion and the flaking. i have to use it in my bike that have magnesium cased water pumps or the reg. green stuff eats them to dust literally.
If it ain't broke,,,,,I'll fix it anyways!
