      Nobody can get a suzuki petcock

      I was trying to get a brass plumbing fitting that screws on and goes down to a 1/8" barbed nipple fitting I could put a fuel hose on.
      Problem is all plumbing fittings are standard, and the threads on this tank [that the petcock screws onto] are M14X1.5.

      Anyone know a source online or wherever that I can buy metric plumbing fittings, or replacement fuel petcocks for a vintage bike?

        yeah, yeah, fire is cool.

        I rebuild these MIC's quite a bit..

        1 REALLY EASY way to get them apart

        1 porpane torch

        1 can WD40

        Be careful!!

        Aluminum expands more then brass, so with some heat it will slide out.

        then take a small dowel or steel tubing and slice it up the middle
        then cut a rectangle piece of scotch brite and center it and slide it up the split.

        load new tool in a drill and use it to "hone" the choke hole.
        polish the brass choke slide and apply a light coat of grease.

        re-assemble and tune and ride.

        Most bike problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars and the seat!!

            Hi TajMan,
            if all else fails, try this:-
            M14 male to M10 female adapter bushing, M10 brake banjo bolt, salvage a banjo fitting from a dead brake hose and put the fuel hose on it.

              cool, I did it with this: (& hose clamps)



              Problem is I think I have a deteriorated seal inside the suzuki 118cc engine that is letting oil drain from the transmission to the front of the crankcase (can't run like that, blowing oil out exhaust, fouling plug quick).

              I wish I could find just a repair manual for this engine, so I could tear into it..

                  we'll see I may buy this other 118cc bottom end and try to put my current piston/cylinder/head on it and try to get it going..

                    That Nighthawk 650 engine was worn pretty bad..
                    I'm looking at $350 in parts for new oversize pistons/rings, plus boring the cylinders and gaskets, and a better used head and valvetrain parts from someone on eBay prob.












                    Cylinder with the 2 white exhaust valves was the one with 0psi compression, but I can't physically see any damage great enough to tell me 0psi issue...

                      100mph is pretty optimistic. I had the 1978 version, a Suzuki A100 2-stroke 100cc. It would top out at just under 80mph. It was a street only bike.

                      As for the crank seal (that is likely what is gone) Suzuki used a leather combination seal to seal the crank journals from the crankcase. If the bike was left to sit for too long, the seals would stick to the crank, and the first time you turn the motor over they had a tendency to tear.

                      I have a '73 GT750 sitting in my yard with the same problem. It runs but burns oil (crankcase) bad enough to keep mosquitos down for the county.

                      On the bright side, the new seals are fairly cheap and, once replaced, will not stick, they are made differently.

                      On the bad side, at least on the GT, you have to split the crank. Not just he crankcase, the crank itself is in several pieces that have to be split to replace the crank seals, then pressed back together.
