  • Help! I'm Drowning in Jets!

Got the two Mikuni's off the XS400. Removed the float bowl on one of them. The main jet is easy to find, but there are several other 'jets' that I see. One of them is in a tube covered with a rubber plug right next to the main jet. It's quite small. Shall I assume that under this rubber plug lies the pilot jet? And are these the two jets that I am going to change to larger sizes in order to accommodate my very lean running condition?

Also, I don't see anything on the main jet (haven't taken the other one out yet) but an "R" and an "5EI". How do I determine the sizes?

    TIA

    Hey dummy!

Ya know, for a guy who's quite educated, you're a little slow sometimes. The markings on the jet are not "S E I." You're reading it upside down. Turn the jet around and you discover that the number is "135."

Yeah, that was one of those "duh!" moments that was too funny not to share.

I used the advice I received on another thread about jetting combinations and have ordered 45s for the pilots and 142.5s for the mains. Also got a rebuild kit from carbkitscapitol.com. I hope this does the trick and that I don't have to do any tinkering with jet sizes. The weather's been too nice not to ride.
