  • Picked up another 77XS750-2D today

Got it for $100, just pulled from the barn, Not running, Last plated in '94, 16700mi.
A few items missing: the airbox/boots, seat lock, signals, toolkit, keys and title.
RH Exhaust muffler needs to be replaced.
Has a lower fairing mount that I'm gonna pull off if anyone needs it.

    Hi Richard,
looks like you found a bargain. How much hassle to get the bike titled in TX?

My first XS750 did not have a title either. When I bought it I was told the owner was deceased. I went to the DMV(Department of Motor Vehicles) and paid the $2 for a datasheet with the current owners address. I then contacted about everyone in Texas with that name just to make sure, as I really wanted to get the owner to sign it over to me which would have been the cheapest route.

I thought about going the bonded title route. But after not finding anyone even related to the owner I elected to go with International Title Service out of Las Vegas, NV. They actually registered it in Maine and with that, I was able to get a Texas title a year later after the plates expired. The cost was about the same as a bonded title but the bond stays with the title for 3-5 years I believe and is still negotiable.

Other than the above three ways, I can only think of one other. That would be to file for a mechanics lien to obtain title. I dont know anyone thats gone this route though.

You can always buy a titled frame at your local bike junk yard and swap everything over to the new frame. its a good idea if you plan to take it apart to clean it anyways and the frames usually cost 100-150 not to bad.-i miss my xs 750 even though it took my foot off (doctors sewedit back on).
