I have a chance to buy a 1980 SUZUKI GSX1100L.Can't find much info on these bikes.How are they? My 1979 XS1100SF wants me to do a background check before the SUZUKI can move in the garage.

They were solid and reliable. I think the 'X" is the sportier model, but the 'L' usually meant cruiser.

The Suzuki version of an XS, often came fully dressed with a Vetter Tour Pak setup.
