Got her fired up today. Purrs like a kitten.

I had to drain the old gas out, lucky Honda has the handy bowl drains with hoses!

Once I got it fired up, it took a bit then settled into a nice idle, no smoke.

PO replaced the headlight and lost all the spacers that go on the mount ears, where they sit around the upper fork tubes, so it's loose.

Took a bit, before the headlight would come on and stay on.

So far, all it needs are a battery, pipes, and to figure out why the brake light is not working.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I had a friend back in the day that had a 750 with 6" over front forks, 4 into 4 drag pipes, and a custom highback seat. It was WAY cool back then. (late 70s).

The first BIG bike I ever spent any time on.

Craz, did you ever find the #1 carb you were looking for?

Found these on ebay if your still in need. Item #280412720495

I had a 1977 CB750K, it was, at the time, the largest bike I had owned. It had a Windjammer III, Shoei bags, and a really ugly trunk.

No, I haven't found a carb body, yet. I have seen some deals, but I am cash shy atm.

According to the PO this one used to have the Hondaline tour setup on it. but he broke it up by the bike falling off the sidestand over the years. When he took all the stuff off (all it has left is the old 70's style caseguard) they had to put a headlight assy on, and they didn't have the washers or spacers that hold the ears in place.

It did come with the same style Direction II windshield I used on my Shadow.

I have partial set of CB750 carbs for about that year. Could the ones you have be saved with some donor bits?

He was asking about my xs 11 carbs. I need an 80-81 #1 carb body. ( I think a #3 may work, too, but I am not sure).

Did a mini tune up today, put the proper plugs in, cleaned the mouse nest out of the airbox, changed the oil. Put some Seafoam in the cylinders and in the gas.

Went to change the front brake reservoir and one of the two screws broke off. Tried to drill it out and the drill bit broke off down in the hole.

The ten speed was only on the CB900. Believe it or not it is only on the Americanized version as well.

Overseas the CB900 was not shaft drive and they wanted it shaft driven in the USA, so they planned to use the shaft drive setup from the CB750. However, the CB750 output was on the opposite side of the engine. So, they decided to add a jackshaft to transfer the CB900 output to the opposite side if the engine. They figured, why not put the high-low gears into it while they are at it. And so America got a ten speed CB900.

Every once and a while he drops it in to low range without knowing and lets out the clutch and goes skidding down the street. Kind of like putting the xs into second at 55mph.

I looked at a CB900 before I bought the XS11. It felt like manauvering a battleship down the road to me. That thing is the land yacht of motorcycles!

yeh, I drove it. It's kind of funky but dependable as hell. He tries to sneek up behind me and blow by when I'm not looking. He never makes it past and it bugs the the heck out of him.

Time now for a diamond burr in a dremel tool.

                            BTDT!

(Actually, the time I "BTDT", it was a broken-off extractor that I had to grind out with the diamond burr)

Sad to say, me too, although never on the MC. I may just drill it out larger, then fill it with Devcon and redrill/tap.

Right now I can't get it to pump any fluid, so I will have to take it right apart and check the innards before I get too far along.

How come no one makes these reservoir replacements for the XS?

Well, actually, somebody did a few years back. Randy bought up all he could get his hands on, and quite a few guys scored nice new replacements. Then, I bought out Randy's remaining stock, and sold off all but what I needed for my own fleet.
