1996 yamah royal star running lean one plug

1 spark plug is burning white and out of that muffler I get a pop the bike has 4 pipes one for each cylender I also get poping or backfiring while riding and let of the gas out of that pipe is there a miner adjustment to help
The bike is a 1996 yamaha royal star 1300

You need to adjust the fuel/air mixture. Colortune is the best method. Not sure how to perform that on your bike, but there should be a screw for each carb that you can turn that will adjust it.

Just wondering, do you still have the stock pipes on there or did you change them?

I recently put the Vance & Hines 2 into 1 pipes on my Raider and now it occasionally pops and backfires when I decelerate. The Yamaha mechs told me to see how it goes when I first got them and if it popped/backfired too much, they could make an adjustment.

I just ordered one of those Power Commanders, not cheap, about $600 if you include the device that makes adjustments for fuel injection on the fly.

FYI, I didn't get the power commander just because of the popping but I was told it should help clear that up some. I can let you know if it helps as I am scheduled to drop off my Raider for an oil change this coming Thursday and I'm having that commander installed then.

I just got the bike about a month ago and the prevese owner had the pipes changed to 4 seperet pipes I don't think it comes stock like that

Popping @ backfire

hey don i just bought a 05 rstd that came with hard chrome slip ons that are sucking air a little haven't fixed that yet but i did plug the AIS and that cut down my popping in half and the muff fix will do the rest
