Yea rare indeed, I think they only made it one year and that was 1983.
Wayne has a Parts bike up in WI, scroll down or search for the XV. Cant tell if it still has the covers on it. Have to email him.

We've been searching the usual sources, I've owned 2 Viragos.
This one is definately an '84, so I assume that it was one of those '83 only, in the US but a couple more years in the UK deals.
It runs ok, but seems to be missing a chunk of gasket for the clutch cover, as it spews oil out the top when the bike is running. The gasket should be available form the dealer.
He ordered a manual, on CD, from Ebay. Looks like it shareas a lot with the 535 Virago.
If it is a 500K, or the number starts with U22, it is an '83. I have one rescued from an overgrown lot, and have had it running off and on. I still plan to make it a runner, but I'll let you know if I give up hope.
