81 It 250

Thought I would try here. I have an 81 IT 250 dirtbike. Does anybody know if the bike will work properly without the Lighting coil in the magneto??? I no longer have any lights on the bike so I don't care, just wondring if it powers more then the lights?

It should run till the battery holds.... if u want a dirt bike, take everything off, charge the battery and away you go... close to home till you see how long the battery holds. If you even have one. If not, you need it (alternator or the battery). My advice is... leave it in.

This a 2-Stroke dirt bike. It does not have a battery, the ignition is powered by the magento which has 2 seperate coils for the ignition.

Just wondering if anyone knows if the igintion somehow relies on the lighting coil.
