  • Will an 1100 bolt up in a 750 frame and drive?

I have a 1979 xs750 that I am considering dropping an 1100 into. Will it fit the frame and bolt up to the drive shaft or will it need modifications?
The 1100 is an 1980 and no other info available atm....looking at it tomorrow.

It would need modifications. The 11 engine is wider and heavier, doubt you could get the drive shaft to align without major changes to the frame or engine mounting.

Heck, the 11 frame is jut adequate for the 1100 engine....I would not want to drop one into a 750 frame!

Yeah, it'd definitely be quite the "chopper" in every literal sense of the word, by the time you got it to work. Building some sort of chain drive would be alot easier than trying to make the shaft drive work, but that would probably end up costing you at the least, another grand. Not to mention the fab work to just get the engine in the frame.
