New Bike
Several nice used Honda ST 1100's out there. Ride one...............you'll never look back. A fairly maint free bike, just like their cars, tons of power/smoothness and an excellent choice to cross several states............some without even a re-fuel(300+ on a tank). A timing belt check is reccomended @ 90,000mi.!...............Other than that, normal put gas in, change oil, tires and occassional brake pads. Has been classified the best do-it-all-well bike out there.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

I'll 2nd that
What motoman says...I too have a Honda ST1100 a '95 model...It will do long distance just fine plenty of power from the V-4 engine smooooth, torquey and a rock of reliability. Its a sportTOURER if you get the reference...however you will still be able to do a fairly high level of sport once you have mastered riding the ST...it can be quite surprising in the twistys...plus it a capable 2 up machine. I just love mine. And Yeah you can find them well under 8k. A little mileage on these is nothing...mine has 46k miles and its just broken in.

You won't think a v-strom is too small after you climb on one. The v-strom is a lot bigger than my XS11 and the most comfortable bike I've ever been on. The ST1300 is a nice bike also, but they don't make them any more.Bill Murrin
