  • 650 Special Rear Tire size

Is anyone running a 150/80-16 rear wheel on their CHAIN driven 650 Special. Does the tire allow for good clearance between the chain and the tire's wider profile. I need to know as I am about to buy tires for my chain driven XS1100 project bike that makes use of a 16 inch 650 rear wheel with a stock sprocket.
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
on the XS650 Special the stock 130/90-16 tire barely clears the swingarm and the inside face of the chainguard. No way will a 150 section tire fit on a stock XS650 Special. I'd suppose the XS11 swingarm has more clearance than the XS650 swingarm but the extra 10mm each side width of a 150 section tire could well interfere with the chain unless you space the sprocket out from it's stock position.
