Mechanical Advancer for TCI Pickup Coils

Hello. Recently bought a non running XJ550 that had an tci/cdi failure. tried a spare Honda CB550 Ignitor and she fired right up but only idle's.. seems to me either there's no advance timing built in to the tci or if it has it then most likely not compatible with this particular engine. So now i'm thinking of mounting an mechanical advancer on to the pick up coils shaft to make it advance.. I also have a spare CB175/CB125 Mechanical Advancer with counterweights that I can use, if compatible.

Ideas?
