'83 Ventura Tranny?

Hi all, A co-worker of mine has one of these. Not exactly sure on the year though. He has contacted me with what sounds like the dreaded 1st - 2nd gear problem that we know all to well.
Are these trannys same design as the 11? If so, is it possible for repair in bike? Any thoughts or advice on this would be appreciated. Told him the first and foremost is to get a manual. Just thought I would ask on here first..........for in the land of 11's, there is infinite knowledge my son.................

Yes the Venture suffers from the same tranny failures. I don't think I would want to turn one of them upside down though. There are two of them in the shop I deal with now getting first gear fixed.

Hey Jim,

Moved the thread, but also there is a separate Ventures web site and I've seen and read the Tranny repair tech tip they have posted on there, but it's not as simple as ours due to the complexity of the V-4 engine and such!
