  • "Super Bandit"? for 2004?

Fellow XSives, Banditos, and those who appreciate naked art... uh, motorcycles:

In the "Preview 2004" article of the new (April '03) issue of Motorcyclist magazine (p. 28), there's a report of a possible new naked bike from Suzuki.
Switching gears to the naked-bike segment for a moment, we're hearing Suzuki may finally build what we in the office like to call the Naked Bike from Hell: a GSX-R1000-powered super-standard that's not been performance-neutered or component-cheapened like so many other open-class Japanese naked bikes (Yamaha's fast and fiery FZ1 aside). We're not sure this Super Bandit would need all of the new-for-'03 GSX-R's 150 rear-wheel horsepower (the current GSX-R will toss you off the back as it is), but with 125 or so rear-wheel ponies and a heightened level of component quality (inverted fork, quality shock, lots of neat aluminum castings, etc.), this is a bike we -- and a lot of over-40-ish enthusiasts brought up on hardcore sportbikes -- could get emotional about.
I didn't have a scanner handy, or I would have included the artist's concept picture. However, it looks something like this Hayabusa streetfighter I found at Gixxer.COM in the Streetfighters forum.

    Any thoughts?

Hmm... I LIKE the name B King but that's something else. The "B King" is Hayabusa-based and the Motorcyclist article was talking about something based on the GSX-R1000. Maybe my attached pic of the one-off Hayabusa streetfighter custom muddled the issue. Of course, the B12 is the best deal going in a super-standard.

        Bill,

Actually the B-King was a prototype bike show deal, but I heard that they were going to build it (minus the turbo) anyway. I gotta admit it looks a lot like the picture you provided. Still might be the same bike........who knows. I am happy with the current selection of bikes when I go out in to the garage...so i will leave the discussion of this to the rest of you.... !!

B-King stands for Boost-King, to tout the turbo......
