I tagged along with two other Jap bikes, both Honda's. One was the VTX1800, and the other a ST 1300. Well let me tell you folks,, our bikes are good solid bikes. But them two Honda's are torque monsters. I had to get above 4( more like 6-7)) grand to catch them. I could catch and pass the 1800, but the 1300 was another story. But all in all the ole gal hung in there and accounted very well for itself. I didn't get punked, but I had to ride a little bit harder than normal, or maybe a lot more harder.
Plus it was about a 300 mile poker run. I don't remember them being that long in the years of yore, Or I am just getting older.
Be cool and keep the rubber side down.
I gotta add that the tranny on the VTX was louder than the XS. Talk about some serious clunks when shifting....
