  • rd200 help!?!

how the heck do you get the stupid stator/generator/alternator/whatever it is off of this bike? There is no visible way and I'm fed up trying. Any help would be great, thanks.

      Hi Guys,

If my memory is working, there is an internal thread in the end of the rotor; find a thread to fit it, wind it in until it is tight on the end of the crank, and give it a sharp crack with a hammer.... straight on the end; not at an angle.

The thread on the rear spindle might be right??

it does have threads on the end of the shaft, do you think it would push it off? i think by hitting the bolt in the shaft would almost cause the crank shaft to try and shift in the housing and break something......i dunno, i guess that is why i never got the stator(magnito, alternator) off.

in case you are wondering, cloerts is my brother and the bike has been in both of our garages a number if times....lol it is in his now.

          Hi Guys,

I think the fraternal relationship has been mentioned.....

If the internal thread is there, then it is only to get the rotor off....... I had a manual for these at one time, but it is no longer on the shelf.....

If you are stuck, get a book, and have a read!.... There are a couple of threads in here which tell you where to download manuals for free..... don't know if you will get one for an RD200.

Try a search and see if you can get a manual; take it from there.

You are talking about the rotor?? the lump on the end of the crankshaft? turns with the engine??

          Best of luck!

It'a an m12 .125 pitch fine thread, but I would need about 8 inches of threading to get the stinker all the way in. I haven't been able to find anything local that's long enough.

                  Hi Guys,

Unless you have something fairly odd, the factory puller is only about 2" long......

Like I said, you need a quick look at a manual.
