    Hi kf4bxd,

Welcome to the forum! If you try the "search" function, check the "Tech Tips" or just browse through the threads, you will probably find more info on carbs than anything else......

To answer your question, there are a load of different versions of the XS carbs, and even more variations in jetting. However, they are all (as far as I know!) interchangeable; all fit the motor and airbox the same, and cables and fuel lines hook up.

Only oddity is that early carbs have vents which hook up to nipples on the airbox; later versions vent internally. later airboxes still have the nipples, but they are not drilled. If using the stock airbox, the nipples need to be plugged or open to suit the carbs, not the bike!

Despite all the changes, ANY good condition set of XS11 carbs will make ANY year of XS11 run well....... Just be careful in swapping parts from one set to another!.....problem is finding a good set ! LOL!

Don't worry; there are really good instructions on here, and more help than you would believe!

Most of the rebuild that these carbs needs is actually only cleaning. With a bit of care on disassembly, and a bit of luck, you should be able to strip down a set of carbs, clean them thoroughly, and put them back together without needing any new parts. Spend a bit more time reading through the tech articles to prep yourself. Come back here for more specific advice if you run into issues.

For an 80LG the main jets should be 110 on # 1 & 4 cyls and 120 on #3 & 4. That was done to aid in cooling the center cyls.
