  • Suzuki 800 Intruder

Got a friend who picked up a 1999 Suzuki 800 Intruder/Volusia V twin. His fiance is riding it as her first bike, and it did well for the first couple weeks, now it's putting out a lot of smoke from one cylinder when first starting out and once she's past second gear it diminishes to where it can't be noticed.

The bike sat for a couple years before he bought it, and I'm thinking either a valve stem seal or ring.

It did not have the problem initially, I got to ride it right after he bought it and it was doing fine at that point.

    What do you all think?

    Smoke

First thing i would do is check the oil , if the carb floats are sticking then it might of filled the crankcase over full causing it to smoke. Also you might do a compression test to see if that cylinder is down on pressure . Just a couple things to check. Good luck

Thanks for the ideas, I'll pass it on. I'm guessing a stuck ring myself, since it ran well and then just one cylinder is having the problem.
