Red, White and Blue...?
Nope. It's Rattle-Can Ford Taurus Metallic Green-y Blue with White Wheels and White Passenger Grab Bar.
Oh, It's somethin' to behold all right!
But.. I am determined that it will be flying down the road in its Ford Taurus Green Blur-iness, before I go to the trouble of stripping off the paint and doing the restore thing. Can't have two bikes just perched on center stands for too long. It starts to look embarrassing. Like I don't know what I'm doing. Like I need another buddy to helpfully suggest I just tow one of them to "someone who knows what to do and can get you on the road".
When I got the XS1100sf, the restoration bug grabbed me before I could really say that the bike was in tip-top shape mechanically. The covers arrived back from the polisher today, and look great. So I have a bit of work to do there, just getting on the road again. John sent me the valve shims from his exchange program and now I have all I need to get the cruiser going...as soon as I have the rust out of the new tank, and the whole thing gets painted etc.
The FJ will probably be on the road pretty quickly. I got the keys in the mail from the PO today who is being really helpful with answering history questions and advising on the distinctive quirks of his former ride.
I'll post pictures soon..
In the meantime, good luck with your search. There are a lot of older rides out there that are only some TLC away from blasting down the road again..
