  • Ontario Insurance For Old Katana ???

While making some other adjustments to my insurance policies the other day i asked my agent for a guesstimate on insurance for my 1983 GS750 Katana. Much to my surprise she told me that they can not cover it because it is on the BANNED list. I reminded her that this is a vintage motorcycle of 25 years old and not a modern ROCKET. She said it didn't matter. katana is banned and they don't make the rules.
Any suggestions on where I might get insurance at a rate that reflects the bikes TRUE level of danger to a rider. Would having it plated as a vintage bike be helpful?

I insure my 83 1100E with Primmum. They might have a 25 year cutoff though.

I will check them out even if only for this 1st year. I will be disappointed if I can't get insurance for this bike.

              Insurance racket

Dalton -Timmis only considers 30 year old bikes as vintage .
Primmum is my current insurer . If they will insure me after 15 years no bike insurance - you may have more luck there . I pay $700 a year with $100/month payments

If they insure you, you probably will not have any problems keeping it insured through them as long as you own the bike.

                    Yeah but...

It's about Canadians getting hosed by the insurance company. I have three XS11's on my policy, and it's only $180 a year, and I have filed two claims with them. My insurer is Dairyland.

                      Insurance profiteering

All too well ,we know this . Short of starting a revolution or shooting a few politicians , what are we to do , It is indeed just the tip of the iceburg of a country governed by greedy ,corupt organized groups . As Canadians we dont overcome ,we just suffer in our illusion - rant over

Might as well toss mine in...

For a 22 year old, with enough coverage to put it on the road, my XS11 was $110 this year, second year on the policy. Oh, and it's Progressive.

And I really hope they can do something when I get the '06 Katana I'm looking at...

                              Hi Rob,
move to sunny Saskatchewan where SGI will sell you insurance on your '83 GS750 Katana for $687 per year. That's ~$60/month for the maximum of 6 months when there ain't no snow. Ticket-free for 10 years there's a 20% discount on that.
