    Hello everyone

After riding on the back of my XS for two years,, my wife now wants a road bike of her own.

I thought I would start her out on a little enduro like the one I learned to ride on, so I bought her an old 125 yamaha. It runs great, but the clutch will not disengage. I push started it and rode it around for a little while thinking that the plates might be "stuck," but this did not help at all.

If anyone has any info that might help me unstick the cluth, that would be great. If anyone knows anything about the drive system on these old bikes, I would appreciate any help you might give.

    Thanks alot--Casey B.

    It is stuck

How hot did you get it run it till it gets real good and hot and keep pulling the clutch. It should release if not you will have to disassemble it.

      clutch

I did not get it really hot. I just rode it for a few minutes and it did nothing. I will try to burn her for a while. Have you ever disassembled the clutch basket on one of these old bikes?

        i have a dt 400
and if it sits a long time the clutch will stick
run it around get it up to temp
then just hold the clutch in, and jerk it
try to burn out or wheelie, all the time holding the clutch in
put it in high gear and give it gas and hold the rear brake
all the time holding the clutch in

what has happened is the plates have dried up and you need to get oil in between them
if all fails disasemble the clutches

Hey, thanks alot--I will try that tomorrow. Hopefully you are right. I recently changed the clutch on my xs and ran into a whole lot of problems. I really didnt want to spend alot of money on this little yammy. I only paid 50 bucks for it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Drain the tranny and put in some fresh 10-30 motor oil. Thats what is supposed to be in there, who knows whats in there now.

              125 enduro

Sticking plates are common, but clutch springs wear out too, check those too. Changing the oil is a good idea.

              Good luck... Dave

Hey, It worked! I tooled around for about a half hour shifting in and out of gears without the clutch and alternating with the clutch pulled in and gunning it. It broke free and works O.K. I am going to change the oil and see how that works. It still does not want to disengage all the way.

                Thanks for your advice.
