OK just for kicks. Has anyone ever ridden or maybe even own one of these puppies.

I do like this bike, but the price is very prohibitive.

    Thoughts?

I have ridden one. They corner amazingly. There are a lot of bikes that would crash if they followed one of these (properly handled) into a corner. They are amazing.

        Honda does good work.

That having been said . . . Beware the dark side! Once turn down that path you do . . . forever will it dominate your destiny.

My brother has the same bike as the picture....I call it the Honda Family Truckster. Big...no wait HUGE. Pulls like a truck, drives like a truck, looks like a truck......

He traded me for the Triumph one day and he would not trade back, I had to drive the truck all day.

Actually they are nice......for what they are, a truck.

              I like trucks too!

              My last 4 new vehicles:

              1990 Chevy 1500
              1994 Chevy 2500 4x4
              1997 Dodge 2500 HD 4x4
              2000 Dodge Dakota 4x4

Not a Honda in the bunch! I do like the Honda, but it's not the right bike for me. Neither is a Voyager, Venture, or Valk tourer. I did the tour bike route with my 83 Venture Royale. I speak from my own experience.

                Wayne,
I had an '80 GW, fully dressed in the stable once upon a time. As for the newer, 1800's, I've read that checking the engine oil is no easy chore. One must remove the right side cover and that isn't an easy "snap". Perhaps a dealer could demonstrate this for you. Also I believe I have also read that getting to the air cleaner element is a real bear. 'Just my two cents worth.
Personally, I'd love to have one; except my '89 F-250 4x4 needs my attention [$$$$$] worse. [engine is just about shot]

Yea, I've heard that it isn't an easy thing to get to the engine on these monsters. I guess the next thing Honda needs to do is build a 'hood' on it. Oh wait, it would then be just another Accord! LOL

I don't think the accords have that much motor, horses, or brakes.

                      To the BAT CAVE ROBIN.......

maybe it is me but hte only thing I think of when I see this bike is Holly SH*T BATMAN. It reminds me of the Bat Bike complete with a seat for Robin.

Again I've read in the Motorcycle Consumer News Letters column that the new Goldwing has a lot of problems with overheating when the going is slow (say in traffic at less than 15 mph). What is troubling is that Honda hadn't owned up to this problem for quite a while. I understand that they finally said they are working on a fix. That's nice. But not before ignoring quite a few Goldwing owners for quite a while. Recently, I've read that the new VTX 1800 has stalling problems that Honda is ignoring. Even if fixes are forthcoming, do you really want a bike from a company that has started to ignore its customers unless public opinion forces them to face their responsibilities? My XS11 looks better all the time.

                          New Goldwings

Demoed one at Americade last year and rode a friends wing for a part of a trip last fall. Great bike, smooth, powerfull but I hated the riding position. I'm 6'6" and an athletic 290 lbs and the bike felt like it was made for a guy 5'10". I felt very cramped and never did get real comfortable. While I am not particularly brand loyal, I bought my 2001 Harley-Davidson FLHT because it fit me and my wife but I did look at the wing very carefully as well as the Yamaha
