I have owned both the 850 Special and my beloved XS11, and by far, the 11 would kick the ass out of my 850.
The rear end rose up when you accelerated, and the 3 cylinders just fought eachother; whereas the 11 is perfectly balanced, rotates in the opposite direction and delivers so much more torque to the rear.
Just my opinion.

I agree, that 850 triple is not the greatest bike. Prolly why there arent too many around anymore.

Well hell, id buy one for $100. Still better than alot of bikes out there. Gotta keep it in the family.
