What is this bike? The owner says it a 650 Yamaha but I thought the 650 Specials had wire spoke wheels? The tank looks like a Maxim. Was there a Maxim 650? What is this thing?

swirly mags, shaftie, axle in front forks, most likely an XJ650 Maxim. Gotta go with Alan B; damfool seller can't count.
BTW some XS650s could be had with 7-spoke cast wheels that are (usually) a straight swap for the XS650 wire wheels. The front is also a plug-in swap for the XS11 front.Fred Hill, S'toon
