Fjr

Anyone out there have an FJR or ridden one? I went to pick up some parts from my local Yammy dealer for the Battle Cruiser and saw one on the floor. I am smitten.

Is the FJR a good one? SWMBO likes to two up and the perch out back seems a little small, but the press test seemed like it was firmer than an Special saddle.

How about the handling? Looks like it would be pretty nimble, but still stable.

If I bought a new bike.. that's definately the one I would buy also. I saw some video somewhere of the comparison between it and the BMW, and I think the ONLY thing that beat the FJR was the heated grips? (If I remember correctly).

Supposed to be a good solid bike, but the gas mileage still isn't fabulous. BUT.. at the listed HP being just about double the XS/XJ... I think it would be fun to ride to say the least. There is a noticeable LACK of any used ones for sale, and my local shop said he can only get one a month new from the factory.. so I think that says more than any reviews. People aren't taking them back and trading them in.

I owned a silver one in 2002 - 2003 which I bought without having ridden it first, convinced as I was it would be a great bike. When I rode it the first time I immediately fell in love with it. Lightning quick and razor sharp handling for such a big bike. Unmistakingly a very close relative of the XS1100! Me and my girl friend did a Euro tour in 2002 that took 4 and a half weeks in which we covered more than 8000 miles and took us through Germay, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Corsica, Spain, france and Belgium. It never missed a beat and we didn't even get tired...
I found fuel consumption for such a big bike very acceptable, better than the XS1100! 1 liter on 14 kilometers average with 1 on 17 as the most economical. You have to calculate that yourselves in miles per gallon!

I think I may very well be supplying an owners report next may or June. I have heard some good stuff about the Kawasaki Concours, but I like the styling and ride height of the FJR as well.

That's only around 33 MPG. Not very impressive by today's standards really. Most bikes now bump the 45-50 MPG range pretty easily.

Yeah, I'm looking at it too. SWMBO loves to ride with me, and while I just love Packmule, after about 100 miles, we both need to get off and rest our butts!

The FJ is totally badass. I am going to rent one in the next few weeks, do a quick Hill Country Texas ride with SWMBO and see how it does. If we can tolerate it, then an FJ is in my very near future!

I like the 07 Black Cherry 1300A, non electric shift.

I love that Black Cherry finish too. Hope I can still get one next spring (bonus time). Yeah, I'm keeping the Battle Cruiser as well. I can kind of preserve him better then. I want to have the XS experience for a LONG LONG LONG TIME.

Whats really cool is that old XT500! I miss mine(which disappeared from my work parking lot) That thing was a lead tank, but fun!
Almost bought an fjr this time last year, but I was looking for something more supersporty, but still with practical features. The fjr was slightly too practical for me. It's one of those bikes tho, that you can ride anywhere and it doesn't matter if your alone in east NV. You can count on it.
