  • Rode an 02 Suzuki Bandit today

    And D*** was it fast!

Makes my 11 feel like it's running on 2 cylinders. I think this bandit is the fastest bike I've ridden so far.

    lol

Yup , and i tried out a Kawasaki 636 r which will eat that 1200 for a joke. new tech ! i topped the kawa out at 285 kph and it [power wheelied in second to red line 15500 rpms that was 106 Mph when i shifted to 3rd. Now i understand why so many young kids get killed on them !

So, why do I do this to myself? Why do I ride bikes with higher performance than my 11?

I know there are plenty of bikes out there that will stomp a bandit, but I like bandits and FZ1s because they are comfortable to sit on.

But now my XS doesn't feel so XSive.

I've ridden a VMax before, and this bike was faster than the VMax I rode. I like the power cruisers, but it seems like they are struggling to keep up. Is there a power cruiser these days that will run with a sport bike?

        Suzuki

The Suzuki M109 Cubic inch Liquid cooled VTwin, 128 hp pretty respectable for a cruiser. It will pull the front wheel going into second and has a huge back tire. The have come out with a C version which dosent have the frugly headlight niceeeeee!

A tricked eleven effortlessly matches any stock 1200 bandit for general performance, my own eleven's tricked as in 1196, ported, modern 36mm carbs, filter and piped 4-1, dynacoils, chaindrive, lightened etc.. put it this way, there's no lack of get up and go there. The bandits feel lively because of weight/balance, they're actually pretty dinky and light compared to an eleven, while their compact modern refined GSXR11 motor's are real grunters, I almost brought one after a test ride once, but I still way prefer the more unique big and brawny XS.. while sportbikes are thrilling to ride in short bursts, as far as an everyday all-round useable road machine, both bandits and XS11's piss all over the supersonic plastic stuff.. Wouldn't say no to a 'spare' R1 or suchlike in my garage though...

Maybe my XS just needs some real help. Clutch, bore, etc.

I like the XS because it has character, and XS owners show character by owning and riding them. It's just that I badly want some more performance.

Would really badly like to get some dyno time, but here in So. Utah, seems I'm out of luck.
