don't let that get away
That is RARE....I have been keeping my eyes open for the last few years for one....very quick bike and sounds good....starter problem is an easy fix.... IMO, Ducati copied this design....MDRNF

FOR THE US:
the XV920RH was a chain drive model made in '81 (not '82 as stated in the ad). In '82, Yamaha made a chain drive XV920RJ and the shaft drive XV920J. The chain drive was discontinued in '83 and only 2 shaft models were produced, the XV920K and XV920MK.Last edited by Brian_D; 06-22-2007, 09:31 AM.

Ah, well the ad says "Euro styled" not that this is an imported bike. It also says that it's "NOT a Virago" but wasn't the XV the model number for the Virago line? And I can't imagine the engine is very different.
A shaft drive version of this bike would be nice.

don't know much about pricing....but yeah seems kinda inflated to me as well.
the chain drive 920 is styled different than the shaft drive 920 (and the rest of the Virago line). the shaft drive model has the familiar Virago styling.
The Virago Owner's Club has BOTH models listed on their web site, so apparently they consider this bike to be a "Virago" as well.
not sure I would trust anyone that produces such a "detailed" add and either mis-states the Year or Model #. appears they are trying to artificially increase the demand/price.For Sale 1 1982 YAMAHA XV920RH EURO. $2,900.00 or B.R.O.

This is a legit ad. These were sold early in the 80's as a sort of Japanese Vincent/Ducati thingie. Sales were glacial, so it was dropped from the N. American market. Performance was mild, pretty much the same as the 920 Virago, although the fullt enclosed chain lasted (seemingly) forever. A local shop has one for $1500. Would be a neat 2nd bike, but kinda slow for everyday use. Probably a decent mile easter though. it's not exactly like a TR1 (different tailpiece for instance) but it's close enough.

Back in 84 I had a chance to buy a new left over model of one of these. At the time I was still healing from being pasted by a Buick driver when I was riding my Guzzi. I wasn't sure if I was going to fix the Guzzi or replace it. After riding the 920 Euro Virago, I decided to fix the Guzzi instead. My old 83 T3 handled better and had more power.
In my opinion the Virago series was best suited to cruisers and not sport bikes and that's why this was a one year model...
