  • Rode an 02 BMW K1200RS

Today my friend and I exchanged bikes for a 10 mile ride. I rode his beemer 1200 and he took the XS.

I was very impressed with the beemer. Handles extremely well, nice gearbox, the fairing keeps the wind off of you... very smooth engine.

Most noteable was the broad engine torque. Didn't matter what gear you were in, they all felt like 3rd.

    Fun bike.

A year ago I had a go on the K1200R (naked). great stable brutal bike. And looking butch as well.
Only hiccup I found was the fuel injection program between 1500 and 3000 rpm: hesitation, surging, anoying fuel cut off.
Dealer said that was new to him, internet forums told me otherwise. Hope these problems are gone now?

I didn't notice a hiccup on this model.

They had some issues with that early on in '05. It was supposedly rectified by the Germans in the programming, and only requires a free software update at the dealer. At least that goes for the k12r & s.

Another little note.... most beemer dealers have demo's Even for the K12s, which surprised me. Just sign a waiver and take one out for an hour.
