  • My daughter's first bike!

SWMBO and I picked up a 1987 Honda 450 Rebel to surprise our daughter with when she turns 17 next month. The bike is really clean, and the PO did a nice job of keeping it put together. The only issues I need to address, besides the usual tune up stuff, will be the (standard) carb cleaning and syncing, and changing out the plug wires. It has 9200 original miles, the seat height is going to work perfectly for her, and it's a good size for her to learn on. We had to give him 6 pictures of Benjamin Franklin, but I think it was a good deal.

Anyone out there have any experience with these bikes? I know they were only made in 86-87. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

I was working on Hondas in those years. The 450 rebel the same mechanically as the 400/450 Honda twins.

The rebel treatment was mostly styling like the difference between the standard and special xs11.

I used to roadrace a 78 Honda 400 (Hawk). Good power for the size and handleing was excellent.

I'm trying to find out how tough the carbs are to go through...scale of 1 to 10?
