Sup fellas just stopping to say hello. Brian D pointed me to this site from another, I was kinda wondering around in circles looking for chain conversion info. He was kinda enough to send me in your direction, you'll never get rid of me now lol. Anyways here is what I got going on I have an 80 model XS1100 that I'm chopping literally. I removed the sub-frame and will be removing the backbone today some time, going with inverted forks stretched out hardtail with a 200-230mm rear tire, jackshaft with RSD (right side drive) Anyways here is pics of what I have done sofar.

Most racebike/trackbike chaindrive XS's look to have either stepped out, short modified middle drive shafts, or else they're stock shafts - with 'expendable' bearings - replaced often? Unlike your street XS with it's long drive unit shaft which needs a bearing support on the end for road/street longevity if using it as a chaindrive unit. A cut down stock shaft would limit tyre width if not stepped out to the left, so you're lookin' at a whole new drive unit shaft design, Chop's on that case now...
Meanwhile my 'homemade' dunger chain unit is still churning out the miles no probs at all, great performance, and the O-ring 530 chains are brilliant nowadays, hasn't needed adjusting at all for 12 months or so, using a 160 radial, good for looks and corners, front tyre a 110 crossply, the radial/crossply mismatch is actually not a mismatch as the bike handles better than before, Met, your jackshaft setup sounds interesting...

making xscellent progress...like to see some pics of the stand and jig.
haven't scrapped the cut pieces of frame yet have you? if you won't be needig them, I may be interested in buying the left and right side pivot sections.

Well I built my bike/work stand today and picked up some material for my jig, I changed my mind on the frame and will only be useing the neck. Need to do some homework on rake and trail dont want the high speed wobbles (10 pucker factor) if you have ever had them. I'm at work will post pics in the A.M.
