  • xs750 and xs1100 compatibility?

I've been watching with great interest the current threads about the chain drive suspension. I am building a drop seat chopper out of my xs750, and the only limitation i am having is the shaft drive. If i could do this chain drive conversion, that'd open me up to a 160-180 width tire, which is what i am really wanting. this is an example of the kind of bike i'm wanting to build.

is the xs750 transmission the same as the xs11 transmission? is anybody currently doing conversions? i would be very interested in having this done. I am going with a hard tail, so i dont think i will run into the problems that yall have had with the swingarms.

    chain

I am doing one....if you have an extra middle shaft to confirm as an xs11 clone, you are in business...I am building a one-off custom housing for a chain drive and will be copying it later...I will sell a complete converted drive for 350 bucks....if you want you can attempt the homemade rig outlined in the chaindrive thread started by pggg.....chop...cool bike BTW

i actually dont have a spare, but i'll post on the yamaha triples forum and find out. so the complete kit, what exactly would it consist of? the sprockets, chain, and all that good stuff? if so, that'll be a good deal and i'd take you up on that.

        kit

you would have to get a sprocket from sprocket specialists, and now I'm curios if the 750 case would allow a bigger sprocket than 14T like the xs11....hmm....

          looks a GO

Looks like the housing is the exact housing...What's cool about the xs750 middle drive is they came in two diff. ratios....the E model was for quicker acceleration...go figure....

                His website is: http://www.demonspeedind.com/
There's more pictures of it on that site, and also HERE.

i think chop knows that bike isnt mine.. i had said that it's an EXAMPLE of the kind of bike i want to build. but yeah its demon's and its a very cool little chop. the guys on the xs750 forums are saying the middle shaft is the same as the xs11 shaft, so it should be a go.

Hey Chop, dont know if it really matters how wide his pivot points are, I think he's going rigid.

                        IT MATTERS

IT MATTERS BECUASE I CAN CALC. IF THE 750 M/D CONVERSION WOULD BE THE SAME AS THE XS11 SETUP...ALSO MAYBE HIS CASE SETS DIFF. IN RELATION TO HIS FRAME AS COMPARED TO OUR XS11'S....

Chop, the drive unit, do you adjust the sprocket spacing with washers or spacers like I did or is there another way to move the sprocket left or right, I can only think of a lever or something but locknuts and stuff too, I can't think of any other way to move the sprockets sideways.

                            DRIVE DESIGN

MY DESIGN WILL ALLOW THE SPROCKET +- 15MM LEFT OR RIGHT...I WILL BE USING 30MM I.D. SPACERS (1/16" THICK LARGE WASHERS AT FIRST) TO ADJUST SPROCKET LEFT TO RIGHT ON SHAFT....
