  • Royal star Swingarm

The yamaha Royal Star swingarm is 12 7/8" pivot to pivot and 20 1/2" pivot to axle...This is the S/A to use with a fat tire and keeping the driveshaft w/o modifying the xs11 frame ......

        s/a

I checked on this info for another forum member here and posted it before I forgot it again. the s/a uses a monoshock but can easily have dual shock tabs welded to it.....

Yamaniac, glad you posted - never had the chance to stop by to meet you yet work a second job at a liquor store 4 days a week. last week, between both jobs, I worked 72 hrs - most of that was (4) 14-hour days.

was wanting to get some feedback on local bone yards. haven't dealt with oz yet, but figured I'd give them first shot for this project.

xschop, thanks again for all the info; and I did finally find PinWall Cycle Parts Inc on ebay Right now they have a '98 swingarm for $89.95 or a '96 swingarm for $129.95 - this gives me a good idea on what I should expect to spend, but the bad news is that this will delay my purchase of those solid alloy mounts by 4-6 weeks

                no biggie

I can spin another set out later. I can send these out tomorrow to another xsive. I am going to be making a custom SOFA with a built in oil cooler this weekend.....Glad I could help on the S/A....There's a V-star S/A going for 50 bucks on ebay that could be another route, you would have to relocate the batt. tho

battery will be relocated anyway as the frame (from the rear down tubes back) will be refabricated. saw the v-star s/a, but thought the Royal Star would more of a bolt on mod with a slightly longer stretch. current plans are to incorporate a v-star custom rear fender however.

what in the world are you building over there Brian? If it's a liqour store in Gardner, pm or email where it's at. I need to make a run for the owner of the shop anyway. When it's all said and done, I'll prolly owe him at least a keg. lol

I'm awful curious as to what you have going on in your garage also. sounds like you have one stripped and are putting a fatty on the back and rewiring, and , and . I'd offer to help you if I could, but by the reading of several different comments in different posts, sounds like you have things well in hand.

xschop investigated this option before deciding on a chain drive conversion. I wanted to keep the driveshaft, so I've opted this route. unfortunately, I'm battling with personal finances at the moment so progress is slow - I've yet to purchase the s/a or driveshaft in any case, I'll be posting pics and questions during my progress.

will this mod require the royal"s driveshaft and final drive too?

                              s/a

the RStar s/a will work. you could go up to a 180 tire once the rim is centered to xs stock centerline....the driveshaft will definitly be needed for length and the final drive wouldn't hurt, but I would bet that the XS11 f/d would bolt right on and so would the taller geared xs750/850.....Yamaha is like chevy.....most folks don't know that the upper f/d bolts are staggered by 1/4" from the lowers( I guess the japs didn't want yo putting your FD on the wrong way)
