    switch check

Is that only two wires going to the start button?

If you know which one is hot and which one is ground, all you have to do is short out the hot side against the handlebar to see if it is somewhere other than the switch. All the switch does is close a circuit. You can even just use the two wires going to the switch and short together and see if it works.

If it does work.... the switch is bad internally.

If not go to the next circuit in the system.... just take your time and work your way through the wires.

You might get more help for GS-specific questions here:
      http://thegsresources.com/

I had an '83 GS750T long before I had an XS and that site was helpful...of course, not as helpful as XS11.com!

Hot wired it and she turns over but i dont think I am getting spark.

Maybe the boots are to long to be able to see it, does anyone have another way to check the coils?

Guess I should prolly check the points also... with the cover off will I see the spark it makes?
