    Yamaha Maxim

    Hey All,
I just "AQUIRED" a Yamaha maxim. Really nice bike, it was in an open field for a number of years so it's weathered but i need information on this bike. Are there any good parts links for this machine??? I would love to get it back on the road.

    Any help would be apreciated.

Yamaha made several versions of the Maxim, different size engines. the XJ Maxim is known as an 1100, and the numbers on the steering head ID plate or engine will begin with 10M. Other Maxims - I had a twin-cylinder 400 maxim - will have other size engines. Could you let us know which of the versions you have?

The XJ version was sold for 1 year, 1982, in the US and for a few years more in Canada and Mexico. Other than a Yamaha dealer or eBay there are not a lot of good parts sources. Some parts are no loger available from Yamaha, including side stand switch, some cosmetic pieces, some exhaust system parts. Some parts are interchangeable with earlier XS 11s, but you have to check first!

Get used to using the Search tab at the top-right of your screen. If you enter specific items or topics you will get a list of previous posts that concern the same part/repair/replacement and lots of advice on how to proceed.

      Hi Scappod,
I have an 1982 XJ650 Maxim. The 650 and 750 from early 80's look the same. I have a manual if you need anything looked up.

I will get more info on the machine tomorrow night. This being Valentines day I am a bit enamoured with something warmer...
