For those like me that are coming to the point where a more modern bike is in order, I thought sharing the reasons why I opted against the FJR might be of use.
1st. Yamaha financing offered me a rate that was poor for someone with good to excellent credit. BMW gave me a rate that was 4% less
2nd. The beemer being up there with the fastest production bikes had me thinking the ins. would be terrible... but it's less or the same as the FJR
3rd. The FJR is a better "Iron Butter" however, being 28, I felt like the bike was made for someone closer to 40
4th. BMW's Electronic suspension ajustment allows smooth rides on well used pavement, and with a tap of a button, tightens up for the twisties. A feature good enough to make it worth the sacrifices in other areas... like comfort for instance.
5th. I found mine on Ebay in Phoenix for $13.5k with 789 miles(rode it home). Basically new and cheaper than the O.T.D price of the FJR.
6th. Beemer covers their bikes with a 3-36 warrantee.
7th. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... I love the way the beemer looks and a single-sided swingarm and signals in the mirrors are two things I think every modern bike should have.
I know I got the right bike for me, and since it was 12 degrees when I got up this morning, all I can do is talk about it.
