  • 81 xs400 special - chop &/or mod?

Winter's here - time to get going on my project bike - picked up a 400 project bike - wife showing interest in becoming a driver - figured the 400 special fit the bill for a nice little learner and a fun project for the winner.

The bike has been sitting since 96' - owner passed away and his bro rode it for a summer - developed an elect problem and has sat still for 10 years - 11k orig miles.

Elect problem fixed was an ignition switch.

After I clean, clean, and clean some more on carbs and fuel system I'm thinking on a semi-chop on sccot to give a lil home spun styling, going to strip bike all the way down, re-wire, paint etc.

Would like to trim down with style make a one butt seat add a Maxum style tank give it some pop to the eye, make Momma proud of her scoot.

Any input appreciated form anyone who has done or is doing same.

    Ride safe.
