  • sr250, stuck gas cap

So when I turn the key, nothing happens. I really don't want to just pry it off, but do you think I will have too?
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

.. which bike are you riding? if you are riding the Special, there is a skinny button on the front of the cap, just under the edge that you could push with your key to open it.. if you are riding your Standard, then, well i have not had to force one of those open yet. you might have to employ the services of a good locksmith or a motorcycle shop that has someone thats good with a pick.
    good luck

Actually, this is a 1981 yamaha sr250. I don't know if the mechanism is similer, but will check for a button.

Is this under the lip of the cap, close to the tank itself?

.. ok, i get it sr250 Exciter. i'm not sure if they are the same as the special caps, but if it is, then the button is under the lip of the cap on the front. just push down on the cap just like you are using the key hole, and push the button. it should pop open.
