  • Virago ID

I have access to a free-to-good-home Virago. The owner is not a bike person, and knows it's a Virago, but little else. She told me the engine number, but I can't find a cross-ref for these bikes. Can anyone ID a 22U? I think it's an '88 750, but it might be a 535...TIA

Cool...my own private thread. Is this the same as talking to oneself?

The XV500K was made one year, 1983. It has passed through a variety of hands that hadn't the inclination to really mess with it, and it hadn't run in quite a while. Through stuff I've learned from this list and messing with my own bike, I figured out that the starter solenoid was non-op. It needs a good cleaning and some cosmetic work, but I got it running just to give me the incentive to do the rest. Now to rebuild the carbs (only two of 'em...piece of cake!), figure out the bird's nest of fuel and vacuum lines. It actually has a fuel pump that circulated fuel and then pumps the excess back to the gas tank. They don't make 'em like that anymore...for good reason, I'll warrant.
