  • VStar 1100

I've been looking at the Yamaha VStar 1100. Does anybody have any riding time on one of these bikes? How is it?

.. i have riden a couple back when they were new, they seem kinda slow and heavy feeling to me, but thats just my opinion. i'm not a cruiser guy, i dont think it was a very good thing to do to a VMax

I dont get what V-max has to do with it. V-star has a v2 engine while the vmax has a v4.
A few friends had them. I never rode one so I can only offer 2nd hand opinions: Drags pegs n stuff too soon in turns, heavy. One of them sold the bike due to cash deprivation and bought a kawasaki EN500 to survive the riding crisis. Says kawa was way better handling, quicker around the turns, and all in all an easier bike. Now he has a suzuki 1500 intruder... the fat thingie... dindnt see him in a while so I dont know how happy he is with the bike.
I heard of a few shaft drive failures on the small v-star (650).

Just for info... anyone got any experience with honda vt500c? I need a moped to ride to work and stuff.

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

Came this close to buying one, two or three years ago they had a root beer and crimson with bags and windshield very nice looking. Tried it out in the parking lot, handle bars hit my knees and I felt like I was going to fall backwards sitting on the seat. Handled well for a 'large' bike, low to the ground, , smoother actually than I expected, compared to the HD something I also tried (they were giving away free T shirts for test rides) but just wide and too close to the ground and I would never name it "Ilene."

I talked to a lot of owners prior to my shopping for one, not one regretted buying one. Just not my style.

            Honda VTX 1300

Doesn't sound like I should continue looking at the VStar. The VTX 1300 has always intrigued me. Any of you guys been on one of those?

I've heard mostly good things about the VTX1800. I won't buy one because, Honda did the same thing FreightLiner did with the semi trucks. They flooded the market with them to make a quick buck. Fine and dandy at first, but then you go to sell it and the resale value went down the toilet because there's so many of them out there. ( good for finding replacement parts ). As far as performance, I havn't riden one but I understand that they have alot of low end torque and are pretty smooth when compairing it to a Harley.
