  • Can anyone that has rode these bikes give me a comparison

I was just informed by my wife that come this spring I can buy myself a new bike.

Here are the 2 I am looking at.

    1. Honda Shadow Sabre 1100.

    2. Yamaha Vstar 1100 Custom

Has anyone rode both of these bikes that can tell me a bit about them?

I have rode the honda but not the yamaha..

    What do you all think?

I personally have been looking at the Shadow Sabre.
I have found reviews stating it is easier to maintain than the V-Star.
I found reviews showing that the buyers paid approximately $7700 for the Shadow. Enjoyed the ride, etc. Check out Epinions.com You can find a lot of reviews. We should all go leave reviews on our XS and XJ's I know I will
Got to fix it before I can ride it

Co-worker has the Vstar. Pretty thing. It really is a very nice looking bike.

I am not a fan of v-twins myself, but to each his whatever.

In an unbiased test up us75, the XS1100 Midnight walked off and left him.

From a standing start, from roll-ons, high-end . . . basically everywhere. He was appalled, and could not believe my Midnight was stock (I also weigh about 150 pounds more than he does).

My opinion? V-twins are not very efficient. Maybe they use up all their horsepower making those Harley "chuff chuff" noises.

He also will not go on long trips . . . says the noise and vibration tire him out rapidly. About 150 miles a day is all he can stand . . . course he may just be a wimp.

I prefer the smooth power of the 4's (or now, the 1520 flat 6), but that is just me.

Ride whatever you like, just ride!

This might be a little late, but,
I have rode both bikes. The Sabre was nice. The vstar was awesome. I totally fell in love with it. It rode nicely and handled well. very god power, but you would want to put some good grips on either one, or don't plan on riding for very long at any given time. As with any bike its what you feel the most comfortable on. Later,
          Jason.

I don't know about the Sabre..I have ridden my brothers '02 1100 v-star classic..I am not a v-twin fan but I have to admit..It is a NICE ride. Handles pretty well..(tho too low slung for a tall guy like me)..Smooth power almost everywhere...kinda wiggly tho idling in first..not tryin to stall just gotta fight to go straight.. Power is always there when ya need it...(hmmm xs1100?) If SWMBO would ok it I wouldnt hesitate to get one(wonderin what the v-star 650 is like)..
