  • Planning a trip....

MR. PRESIDENT, I'M HEADED TO MEXICO

    Dear President Bush:

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

    1. Free medical care for my entire family.
    2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
    3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
    4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
    5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
    6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
    7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
    8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
    9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
    10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
    11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
    12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
    13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

    Sincerely,

    David M. Bresnahan

You forgot to tell him you want to bring your guns since US law allows you to own them. You will of course expect the Mexican government not to enforce their prohibition against gun ownership by their subjects.

Why do so many come here from Mexico? Is it because it's nicer here than there? If it's so nice here then why do so many Americans go there on vacation?
The easy answer to the immigration problem from our southern neighbors is to annex Mexico. Make it a part of the US with their current states becoming states of the US. They would no longer be illegal immigrants but US legal citizens. They can vote and pay taxes and pay for school and have a minimum wage and set working hours. The US can print more money for them to use and all those taxes collected from them to benefit us all . Their standard of living will rise so they'd have no reason to migrate norte.

        Uncontrolled immigration?

The answer to this problem lies with the Mexican government and its policies. What is happening to the petroleum wealth of Mexico? The oil company Pemex is owned by the Mexican government which means it belongs to the Mexican people. Why do they not benefit? Where's the money? President Bush should implore his friend President Fox to do something about the economic plight of his people so they wouldn't have to come here just to be able to feed, clothe and house their families. Of course Bush will do no such thing but it would be nice if he did, for once, take the best interests of the citizens of both countries to heart in this regard.

Hey, that's brilliant Pat! What are we doing way over in Iraq? Mexico's got oil. Why didn't we just invade them?

(not trying to start a political debate, just my musings)
I don't think we're trying to make Iraq part of the US. Iraqis that come here get educated then go home and sell us oil. Some stay here and sell us gas .
Taking over Mexico (like when we confiscated Calif) is just fulfilling the Manifest Destiny.
I read that they're low on young males to work the fields in mexico, they've all migrated here.
            (non-pc joke):
Notice that dot on the forehead of middle-eastern women? Know what that's for? It's their dowry. On their wedding night the new groom takes a coin and scratches it off and see's if he's won an ice cream truck, a donut shop, or a mini-mart.

Sorry if I offended anyone, not my intention, and I can take a joke about me or my country.

Well we took over California because the Mexican government had lost interest in Alta California and most of the non-Indian population was from the US. When the Bear Flag was run up at the Presidio of San Francisco the Mexican Army garrisson there hadn't been paid in 2 years and had been living off the charity of the citizens of San Francisco. They were happy to see the Mexican flag come down, it meant they could finally go home. Now that it's rich and developed, they want it back. Hey, no way José!
