painting the bike

ok guys my bro is getting ready to paint the bike for me. it is a 79 xs1100 .well i have a question about the gas tank ,i was told there is a drain under the gas cap . i think mine is clogged up anybody have any ideas on how to clean that drain out and what the line in the tank is made out of to drain the water or overflow gas to the ground i know the one outside the tank is a rubber line.

another question about taking the mirrors off since i am putting square ones on it i have the clutch one off but cant get the brake side one off anybody have any ideas on that

The drain line through the tank is steel. You should be able to open it up by fishing a piece of wire through from each end.

The mirror on the left side has a left-hand thread.

thank you for the info that is what i needed to know i will have to try that this weekend and do you know where i can get new mirrors at since i think all new mirrors are different threading
