    DC volt out-put

    xj11john,

    12V charger 16.5 volts
    24V charger 30.5 volts

did not check 36 and 48 volt chargers

    your charger should be "ok"

if auto-charger, plug in and forget (might check first time to be sure it shuts off after charging batt's.

manual charger, 2 hours charging for each hour of use

I would be tempted to build a powersupply and bag the batteries.

What is the amp rating of the welder?

        Denny,

I was thinking the same thing. Just hook up some type of universal adapter with the right amp and voltage to the leads that go to the batteries and seal it back up and be done with it.

Thanks for the suggestion, and I'll have to look at the amperage when I get home to answer the question.

          welder

its portable only as far as the cord would stretch. I would imagine something like that would be best with 220 instead of 110 to handle the amperage required. i would for the money investment in a cheap set of hand trucks and 2 group 31 marine batteries. you have way more capacity than the stock 12-18's but still could have portability. just roll out to the project and weld.

Welder out put probably so low it's good only for sheet metal???

My mig is 220AC, 160 Amp out and is only good to about 1/4" thick steel (.035 wire). Heaver stuff I weld both sides. Sheet metal down to about 18 gauge if real careful (.028 wire). Wish I would have bought 2 sizes up but it gets the job done.
